TRANSFORMIT: Transforming Forest Management for multiple ecosystem services and nature conservation via the Integrative approach
is a €6.9 million project funded by the Horizon Europe Research and Innovation Programme. We aim to improve and showcase the effectiveness of Integrative Forest Management as a viable pathway for merging biodiversity conservation and societal demands. By integrating both practical and scientific knowledge, we will stipulate collaboration, mutual learning and new synergies amongst science, policy, and practice.
Coordinated by the European Forest Institute, TRANSFORMIT brings together 16 institutions from 12 different countries, focusing on building bridges between different stakeholders, disciplines, and regions.
Our innovative approach to Integrative Forest Management (IFM) is exemplified through our seven Living Labs, which are real-life forest spaces that showcase IFM in action. These Living Labs, carefully selected to cover both different European cases and challenges to the forest, serve as catalyst for knowledge exchange, capacity building, and collaboration among forest managers, nature conservation stakeholders, researchers, policymakers, and local communities.
Furthermore, to implement our objectives, we will launch a virtual IFM Knowledge Hub and promote a Stakeholder Engagement Platform. Finally, we will support practically informed policy implementations improving sustainable forest management across Europe.
